cool stuff from the start of the year (Jan-Feb-Mar 2026)
I had the intention of doing one post in this style for each month of the year, oops, better late than never right?
books
- The Inquisitor (2012) Mark Allen Smith
An edgy and bloody goryfest of a book, but very competent in its writing, it uses it's themes well enough and does a great job handling multiple POVs both in style and in pacing. The author seem to be from a screen writing background, this being his first actual novel, this is noticeable during the reading but not actually a problem by itself. With a fun version of the tough dude without feelings as a protagonist I recommend reading it with some alcohol in your body and not much else to do.
- The Colour of Magic (1983) Terry Pratchett
The worst Discworld book I've ever read, still better than most other books, the moments of brillantism shine through the mud.
- The Light Fantastic (1986) Terry Pratchett
I simply love to see how the characters grow and change, also fun to see the beginning of recurring jokes.
- Ojichan (2024) - Oscar Nakasato
People keep on living and finding tenderness and comfort even on the most dire of situations. Second book about a japanese immigrant dad living on Brazil and being a old man I've read recently
mangas
- Ajin (2012) Gana Sakurai
Absurd facial expressions on this one, never actually makes a single meaningful social commentary, instead deciding to run straight to stunning scenes of gunplay. Great if you enjoy watching dudes trying to outsmart each other with bullshit powers.
- Akumu no Elevator (2009) Kinoshito Honta
Probably woke as fuck in 2009, quite homophobic now. Cool plot twists.
- Litchi ✰ Hikari Club (2005) Usamaru Furuya, Norimizu Ameya
red pilled non binary children doing fucked up evil shit. A lot of gore and disgusting imagery, I can see myself in every character, even on the terrible, stupid and dumb ones, I guess this is a sign of good quality on the material and bad quality on myself!
- Animan (2023)Takuya Okada
Your bread is not good enough for this, your butter is not good enough for this, your chocolate is not good enough for this.
- Marriage Toxin (2022) Mizuki Yoda, Joumyaku
if the faggot ends up being a woman I am gonna be pissed off
other texts
- Never Eaten Vegetables (2025) H.H. Pak
Incredible writing, stories about making tough decisions on the name of love always gets my attention.
- The Magician’s Apprentice (2017) Tamsyn Muir
A bit dry, the start is on the slower side while is more like a fun gag than anything, still worth a read if you have 4860 words of time to use
- Window (2025) Charlie Huhges
Made me think of Polaroids by clipping.
- Congenital Agenesis of Gender Ideation by K. N. Sirsi and Sandra Botkin (2026) Cameron Reed
Science! kinda. If you were the kinda person that likes SCP you probably will enjoy this format
games
- A fly in the Array (2026) zegeer
Disoreating in a fun way
- Mewgenics (2026)
I've played too much of this stuff, ask what my opinions are in a year or two
- (like an animal)[https://solflo.neocities.org/works/like-an-animal/] sol
cool.
- Slay the Spire 2 (2026)
the good old thing but better
